The actual version of your map is not still "usable", as the Symbols and Filling captions titles does not explain which data they represent. It is very important to modify the title of the captions: by default the captions have the name of their display (ex : Symbols for the caption of proportional symbols). We don't know which variables they show, therefore the map is unusable
You must now set some parameters for these captions :
In MapInXL, the properties of the different elements on your map can be accessed by double clicking on them. The properties windows allow you to modify the size, the form, the colors and the caption of the different elements of your map.
Double click on the Symbols caption on the map to open the properties of the Symbols:
To change the title of a caption, simply choose the "Caption" line in the Symbols properties window, and change the title : "Number of customers". Validate your changes by clicking "OK".
You can now do the same operation for the Filling caption. Double click on the Filling caption to open his properties
Choose the "Caption" line in the Filling properties window, and change the title : "Customers rate (%)".
We will also modify the texts presentation in the caption by checking the "from x1 to x1" box instead of the "[x1 ; x2]" box.
To simplify the values shown in the caption, uncheck the "Automatic number precision", and select "0" as the decimal value.
You can also change the color palette, to better see proportionnal symbols
When these different operations have been carried out, your map is close to be finished.
You can now enter your own title for your map by double clicking on the title to open the map properties : for example "Commercial performance by states".
To finalize your map, you can resize and arrange the different objects (title, map, captions) by selecting them and dragging the objects or their borders.
Now that your map is finished, you can save your work by exporting it as a picture.
